David Cross vs. Pitchfork
If you haven't read the David Cross article in Pitchfork, "Albums to Listen to While Reading Overwrought Pitchfork Reviews", you need to. It is a perfect encapsulation of why I don't read Pitchfork reviews anymore.
As a bonus, here's an excerpt from the Cross comedy album, Shut Up You Fucking Baby.

JE-SUS. We've been having a little scrum of sorts over at indietorrents.com about this shiite. Since I believe forums are members only, here's a taste of my latest retort:
"Another little thing that makes me chuckle: the polemics surrounding PFM involve only a very select group of individuals who have an strong lust for music. Most, if not every single one, of my friends have never heard of p-fork nor the bands that they flaunt and trash. I just think much of the p-fork hate comes from the fact that the group they cater too is picky and demanding, because the members of this group have scroured the web in search of the good stuff and have no time for colorful reviews (colorful is not necessarily a compliment).
Yes, I am disappointed in many of their smarmy reviews and also the supremely shitty best new tracks listings, but I appreciate their depth of coverage in their musical niche. As I've mentioned above, even if the writers tend to be act holier-than-thou, they still appreciate "good" music and want to spread good new releases to the masses (i.e. that super select group of music lovers).
Sometimes it seems that Pitchfork is like that artist we want so badly to brand as sell-outs, but the tag wouldn't really be justifiable. (Sorry if that was too confusing.)"
